Students: Borrowing, renewing & returning books

Borrowing, renewing and returning books

Due to current restrictions, a click and collect service is available for book borrowing.  Further information is at Semester 2 Services – AIT Library Response to COVID-19 – Subject & Study Guides at AIT Library (

You can borrow up to six books at a time. Long loan books can be borrowed for two weeks at a time and short loan books for one week. You can also renew your checkout items, once they are not required by another user (N.B. all books are subject to recall at any time if requested by another user). You can renew books in person, by phone or by logging into My Library Account in the Library Catalogue.

Books should be returned promptly to the Library. You will be fined if books are not renewed or returned on time (20c per day for long-term loans and €1 per day for short loan items). You can avoid unnecessary fines by checking My Library Account regularly. If you do incur fines, you can pay these in person at the library Desk.

Books may be returned to the return bin or at the Issue Desk.

Please note that from September 2020 books can only be returned to the return bin outside the library after which they will be quarantined for 72 hours and then returned to the shelves.
